The platform is very user friendly because the course content is organised neatly into modules and topics which makes it easy to follow and track your progress. “I’m so happy to have spent the past couple of years working my way through this course under the watchful eye of Prof Ramroop. He has a fascinating background and extensive experience, which he is more than happy to share and he encourages me to ask as many questions about all aspects of tailoring (the practice and the business) – he truly is a one of a kind. Having worked my way through most of the course videos, one of my favourite aspects is Prof Ramroop’s gentle humour. The videos are well produced, easy to follow (and it helps to be able to rewatch as many times as I like) and narrated as if you are in the room with him. Listen closely not only for the wealth of knowledge but also the jokes! As a sewist of more than 40 years, I searched for a course to upskill and challenge myself and this course has provided that in spades. I thought it would be best to learn from the best, and Savile Row is the pinnacle of tailoring standards. I’m so grateful to be able to learn how to produce a three piece suit of the highest standard, and it’s no issue living on the other side of the world – it’s been an amazing experience. It helps to be self motivated and driven; some of the information and skills have been very new and at times overwhelming; if I were to give any advice, it would be to ask ALL the questions and practice, practice, practice. For example, hand worked buttonholes were a very new skill for me so I did one a day for 30 days and saw a huge improvement. My favourite modules are pattern drafting and jacket construction. There’s a feedback loop in measuring, drafting, cutting, basting, fitting, altering and finishing – so I can now ‘see’ the finished product as I measure again, draft again, baste again as I understand the reason for each tiny step. Thanks Prof Ramroop for putting this course together and being so generous with your time! I am a much more confident tailor.
